Label brass informed Billy it was the best album Capitol had in the pipeline for the current year. They also told him that they were pulling the plug on it. The full story is even more bizarre than it sounds. Produced by Mike Chapman (Sweet, Blondie, Material Issue, etc.), Tell the Truth was a powerhouse rock effort that radio seemed to love. Lead-off track “Angry” received more radio “adds” than any prior Billy Squier track during its first week on-air! This is Billy Squier at his absolute best.
